Mixed trend prevails in commodities market

Prices of moong dal, thoor dal and urad dal moved down while rates of sugar, wheat and maida went up in the wholesale foodgrains market.

CHENNAI: Prices of moong dal, thoor dal and urad dal moved down while rates of sugar, wheat and maida went up in the wholesale foodgrains market during the week that ended here today.

All other commodities ruled steady. Prices of moong dal declined to Rs 8,800 with the loss of Rs 400 per quintal on Monday from its previous rate of Rs 9,200 and maintained the same trend till today.

Likewise, thoor dal and urad dal went down to Rs 7,000 and Rs 7,800 from its previous rates of Rs 7,100 and Rs 7,900 since Monday till today.

In contrast, wheat and maida (90 kg) rose by Rs 100 and Rs 50 to Rs 2,400 and Rs 2,400 from their previous rates of Rs 2,300 and Rs 2,350, respectively.

In addition, sugar edged up by Rs 20 to Rs 3,250 from Rs 3,230.

Gram dal (Rs 3,800) and Sooji (90 kg) (Rs 2,500) ruled steady during the whole week.
