Mixed demand for tea
Tea met with mixed demand at the sales held here on June one and two.
The better medium sold at irregular levels following quality.
The medium sorts declined by Rs 2.00 and more sometimes on the fannings grades. Plainer teas eased by a rupee. Liquoring bolder grades selectively sold at a decline of a rupee to Rs 2.00.
While the plainer varieties suffered fair withdrawals, in the orthodox leaf section, the whole leaf varieties continued to meet with good demand and appreciated across the range. Following quality, well made brokens sold at firm to dearer prices while the fibrous secondaries maintained their last levels. Fannings sold at fully firm to dearer levels.
CTC dust met with good demand on the range of teas on offer. Brighter liquoring dusts sold at firm to dearer prices with the finer dusts witnessing gains of upto Rs 4.00 medium dusts barely maintained their last levels with the plainer teas finding at lower levels of a rupee to Rs 2.00.
Primary dusts in the orthodox dust category sold dearer with competition. Improved secondaries sold firm to dearer except for the high priced teas which declined by Rs 2.00-3.00. Leafy residuals sold at firm to dearer prices while the powdery sorts sold at barely steady rates.
