Menthol up on rising demand

Menthol bold crystal, menthol flake and mentha oil prices rose by Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 1,495, Rs 1,415 and Rs 1,285 per kg, respectively.

NEW DELHI: Menthol prices rose by Rs 5 per kg here today on rising demand from pharmaceutical units amid paucity of stocks.


Menthol bold crystal, menthol flake and mentha oil prices rose by Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 1,495, Rs 1,415 and Rs 1,285 per kg, respectively.

Traders said increased demand from pharmaceutical units and other consuming industries against restricted arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh, mainly pushed up menthol prices on the wholesale chemical market here.

The following are today's quotations: Ammonium chloride (50 kg) Rs 1,000-2,200, Acetic acid (1 kg) Rs 40-52, Ammonia bicarb (25 kg) Rs 400-680, Boric acid technical (50 kg) Rs 4,500-5,200, Borex granular (50 kg) Rs 2,300-2,600.

Caustic soda flake (50 kg) Rs 1,850-1,950, Citric acid (50 kg) (China) Rs 3,000-3,200, Citric acid deshi (50 kg) Rs 3,000-3,300, Camphor slab (1 kg) Rs 380, Camphor powder (1kg) Rs 330, Glycerine (1 kg) Rs 90-125, Hexamine (1kg) Rs 95, Hydrogen peroxide (1 kg) Rs 36-50, menthol bold crystal (per kg) Rs 1,495, menthol flake (1 kg) Rs 1,415 and mentha oil (1kg) Rs 1,285.
