Menthol rises on buying support

NEW DELHI: Menthol prices rose Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today on fresh buying by pharmaceutical units amid paucity of stocks.

Firming trend in futures market also supported the uptrend.

Menthol bold crystal, menthol flake and mentha oil prices rose by Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 1,065, Rs 1,005 and Rs 905 per kg, respectively.

Traders said buying support from pharmaceutical and other consuming industries pushed up menthol prices at the wholesale chemical market here.

The following are today's quotations: Ammonium chloride (50 kg) Rs 1,200-2,400, Acetic acid (1 kg) Rs 48-55, Ammonia bicarb (25 kg) Rs 500-800, Boric acid technical (50 kg) Rs 4,500-5,200, Borex granular (50 kg) Rs 2,300-2,600.
