Menthol prices up on increased demand

Menthol prices rose by Rs 5 each per kg in the wholesale chemical market today owing to fresh industrial demand amid restricted supply.

NEW DELHI: Menthol prices rose by Rs 5 each per kg in the wholesale chemical market today owing to fresh industrial demand amid restricted supply.

Traders said short supply from U P markets coupled with increased demand from consuming units mainly pushed up menthol prices.

Menthol bold crystal, flake and mentha oil prices went up by Rs 5 each at Rs 610, Rs 585 and Rs 495 per kg respectively.

Following were today's quotations (in Rs): Ammonia bicarb (25 kg) 360 Ammonium chloride (50 kg) 2,100, acetic acid (1 kg) 42, boric acid technical (50 kg) 3,300-4,000, borex granular (50 kg) 1300-1400.
