Menthol prices rise on fresh buying

Menthol prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today largely on the back of fresh buying support from pharmaceutical units amid paucity of stocks.

NEW DELHI: Menthol prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today largely on the back of fresh buying support from pharmaceutical units amid paucity of stocks.

Firming trend in futures market also supported the uptrend.

Menthol bold crystal, menthol flake and mentha oil prices rose by Rs 5 each to Rs 1,310, Rs 1,195 and Rs 1,030 per kg, respectively.

Traders said buying support from pharmaceutical units and other consuming industries, mainly pushed up menthol prices on the wholesale chemical market here.

The following are today's quotations: Ammonium chloride (50 kg) Rs 1,000-2,400, Acetic acid (1 kg) Rs 44-52, Ammonia bicarb (25 kg) Rs 500-700, Boric acid technical (50 kg) Rs 4,500-5,200, Borex granular (50 kg) Rs 2,200-2,600.
