Medium sugar prices decline on sluggish demand

MUMBAI: Medium sugar prices declined further at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to lack of demand from stockist and bulk consumers amidst adequate supply position.

Meanwhile, small sugar prices held stable in the absence of any major buying activity.

Medium sugar (M-30) dropped by Rs 14 per quintal to Rs 3,172/3,341 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 3,186/3,341.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,064/3,141 (Rs 3,064/3,141).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,172/3,341 (Rs 3,186/3,341).
