Medium sugar drops on subdued demand

Medium sugar (M-30) fell by Rs 14/20 per quintal to Rs 3,202/3,371 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 3,216/3,391.

Mumbai: Medium sugar prices dropped further at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and retailers amidst adequate supplies.


Small sugar prices also declined on lower offtake from millers.

Medium sugar (M-30) fell by Rs 14/20 per quintal to Rs 3,202/3,371 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 3,216/3,391.

Small sugar (S-30) slipped by Rs 4/10 per quintal to Rs 3,132/3,211 as against Rs 3,136/3,221 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
