Wholesale prices of maize fell on Saturday in the national capital after government banned export of the commodity to improve availability and curb rising prices.

NEW DELHI: Wholesale prices of maize fell on Saturday in the national capital after government banned export of the commodity to improve availability and curb rising prices.

Maize prices lost Rs 20 at Rs 880-900 a quintal on stockists selling.

Marketmen said government's decision to ban export of maize mainly brought down its prices.

Following were today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 1350-1600, wheat dara (for mills) 1050-1115, chakki atta (delivery) 1110-1115, Chakki atta Rajdhani (10 kgs)145,shakti bhog (10 kgs) 150, roller flour mill 1100-1105, maida 1135-1155 (90 kilos) and sooji 1200-1215 (90 kgs).

Rice basmati (lal quila) 9500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,500, Super basmati rice 8,900, Basmati common 7200-7400, Permal raw 1520-1620, permal wand 1670-1820, sela 1920-2070 and rice IR-8 1320-1520, Bajra 730-755, Jowar yellow 750-800, white 1235-1295, Maize 880-900, Barley (UP) 1180-1210 and Rajasthan 1120-1130.
