Maize rises on pick up in demand

Maize prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today on pick up in demand from retailers.

NEW DELHI: Maize prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today on pick up in demand from retailers.

However, other grains moved in a narrow range in limited deals and settled around previous levels.

Marketmen said pick up in retailers demand mainly led to rise in maize prices.

In the national capital, maize rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1,590-1,600 per quintal.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,000-2,200, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,440-1,445, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,445-1,450, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 210, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210, Roller flour mill 800-820 (50 kg), Maida 850-880 (50 kg) and Sooji 960-990 (50kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,000, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 7,900-8,000, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,600-8,300, Permal raw 2,275-2,525, Permal wand 2,475-2,575, Sela 3,500-3,600 and Rice IR-8 1,850-1,900, Bajra 1,450-1,455, Jowar yellow 1,500-1,550, white 2,200-2,400, Maize 1,590-1,600, Barley 1,340-1,360, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
