Maize rises on pick-up in demand

Marketmen said pick-up in demand from consuming industries against limited arrivals from producing region mainly led to rise in maize prices.

NEW DELHI: Prices of maize rose by Rs 30 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today on pick-up in demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions.

Marketmen said pick-up in demand from consuming industries against limited arrivals from producing region mainly led to rise in maize prices.

In the national capital, maize rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1490-1500 per quintal.

Meanwhile, movements in other commodities remained restricted due to absence of worthwhile activity.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 1,685-1,885, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,295-1,305, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,305-1,310, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 190, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 190, Roller flour mill 670-690 (50 kg), Maida 730-750 (50 kg) and Sooji 815-835 (50kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, Super Basmati Rice, 9,000, Basmati common new 5,300-5,400, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 4,400-5,000, Permal raw 1,850-1,875, Permal wand 2,100-2,175, Sela 2,325-2,375 and Rice IR-8 1,450-1,500, Bajra 1,100-1,105, Jowar yellow 1,150-1,200, white 2,000-2,150, Maize 1,490-1,500, Barley 1,360-1,410, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
