Maize prices rise on firm global cue

Maize future prices rose by Rs.60 to Rs.1,451 per quintal in futures trading today on speculators buying on the back of firming overseas markets cue.

NEW DELHI: Maize future prices rose by Rs.60 to Rs.1,451 per quintal in futures trading today on speculators buying on the back of firming overseas markets cue.

Marketmen said maize prices gaining in line with the hike in its prices in global markets amid higher export demand.

All ruling five contracts showed a firm tendency on brisk buying support.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maze prices for most active December month contract shot up by Rs.60, or 4.31 per cent, to Rs.1,451 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 46,770 lots.

The November month contract followed suit and jumped up by Rs.58, or 4.24 per cent, to Rs.1,426 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 6,590 lots.
