Maize prices decline in thin trade

Maize prices eased by Rs 30 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today due to sluggish demand.

NEW DELHI: Maize prices eased by Rs 30 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today due to sluggish demand.

However, other grains continued to move in a narrow range in restricted activity and settled around previous levels.

Marketmen said subdued demand mainly put pressure on maize prices.

In the national capital, maize fell by Rs 30 to Rs 1,480-1,510 per quintal.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,050-2,250, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,590-1,585, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,600-1,605, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 210, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210, Roller flour mill 850-870 (50 kg), Maida 900-950 (50 kg) and Sooji 950-980 (50kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,500, Super Basmati Rice, 9,000, Basmati common new 7,300-7,400, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 6,900-7,500, Permal raw 2,050-2,150, Permal wand 2,325-2,375, Sela 2,550-2,600 and Rice IR-8 1,700-1,750, Bajra 1,350-1,355, Jowar yellow 1,425-1,450, white 2,250-2,450, Maize 1,480-1,510, Barley 1,450-1,460, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
