Maize futures up on increased buying

Maize prices strengthened by Rs 18 to Rs 1,449 per quintal in futures trade today following increased buying by traders.

NEW DELHI: Maize prices strengthened by Rs 18 to Rs 1,449 per quintal in futures trade today following increased buying by traders.

Apart from low levels buying, rising demand from bio- products and cattle-feed making industries also helped to boosted the trading sentiment.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize price for August contract went up by Rs 18 or 1.26 per cent to Rs 1,449 per quintal in open interest of 28,270 lots.

Most active near July month moved up by Rs 17, or 1.22 per cent to Rs 1,407 per quintal, having an open interest of 49,680 lots.

Current June month too advanced by Rs 12, or 0.90 to Rs 1,348 per quintal, showing an open interest of 9,390 lots.
