Maize futures up on global cues

Maize prices firmed up by Rs 14 to Rs 1,250 per quintal in futures trade today as traders preferred to raise holdings, guided by higher overseas advices.

NEW DELHI: Maize prices firmed up by Rs 14 to Rs 1,250 per quintal in futures trade today as traders preferred to raise holdings, guided by higher overseas advices.

Marketmen said rise in maize prices at international markets amid restricted supply and pick up in demand at domestic markets, mainly pushed up the trading sentiments here in futures.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize prices for April delivery rose by Rs 14, or 1.13 per cent, to Rs 1,250 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,150 lots.

Prices for delivery in May also moved higher by Rs 14, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 1,279 per quintal, witnessing an open interest of 8,240 lots.
