Maize, barley rise on stockists buying

Traders said fresh buying by stockists against limited arrivals from producing regions mainly led to rise in maize and barley prices.

NEW DELHI: Maize and barley rose by Rs 10 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on fresh buying by stockists supported by a rise in demand against limited arrivals from producing regions.

However, other grains ended steady in scattered deals. Traders said fresh buying by stockists against limited arrivals from producing regions mainly led to rise in maize and barley prices.

In the national capital,maize and barley rose by Rs 10 each to Rs 1,420-1,425 and Rs 1,160-1,165 per quintal, respectively.

The following were today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,070-2,270, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,620-1,625, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,625-1,630 Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 880-900 (50 kg), Maida 950-970 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,025-1,040 (50kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 7,900-8,000, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,600-8,100, Permal raw 2,150-2,200, Permal wand 2,300-2,400, Sela 3,225-3,275 and Rice IR-8- 1,900-1,925, Bajra 1,180-1,190, Jowar yellow 1,425-1,475, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,420-1,425, Barley 1,160-1,165, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
