NEW DELHI: Jeera prices moved up by 1.91 per cent to Rs 10,115 per quintal in futures market today after speculators built-up positions, driven by a rise in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing region.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May moved up by Rs 190, or 1.91 per cent to Rs 10,115 per quintal with an open interest of 8400 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April gained Rs 180, or 1.84 per cent to Rs 9975 per quintal in 2088 lots.

Analysts said the rise in jeera prices at futures trade was mostly on the back of rising demand in the spot markets against restricted supplies.
