Jeera moves up in futures trade on upsurge in demand

Jeera strengthened by 1.17% to Rs 11,677.50 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators enlarged positions, triggered by rising spot demand.

NEW DELHI: Jeera strengthened by 1.17 per cent to Rs 11,677.50 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators enlarged positions, triggered by rising spot demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March rose by Rs 135, or 1.17 per cent to Rs 11,677.50 per quintal with an open interest of 6,117 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 120, or 1.05 per cent to Rs 11,585 per quintal in 6,117 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures.
