Jeera futures up 0.81% on export demand

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May rose Rs 105 to Rs 13,047.50 per quintal, with an interest of 642 lots.

NEW DELHI: Jeera futures prices on Monday rose by 0.81 per cent to Rs 13,047.50 per quintal, as speculators enlarged their positions driven by fresh export enquiries in the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May rose Rs 105, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 13,047.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 642 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 90, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 13,130 per quintal with open interest of 14,058 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in jeera prices in futures trade to fresh positions created by participants driven by improved export demand.
