Jeera futures remain up on export, domestic demand

Jeera prices went up by 0.47 per cent in futures trade today, supported by an improvement in export as well as domestic demand.

NEW DELHI: Jeera prices went up by 0.47 per cent in futures trade today, supported by an improvement in export as well as domestic demand.

However, rains in parts of Gujarat restricted the upside. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in October rose by Rs 77.50, or 0.47 per cent, to Rs 16,595 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,765 lots.

The spice for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 75, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 16,205 per quintal, with an open interest of 22,830 lots.

Marketmen attributed gains in jeera prices at futures trade to improved overseas sales and a pick-up in domestic demand but rains in Gujarat, country's top jeera producer, capped the gains.
