Jeera futures pare losses as export demand picks up

Jeera futures, down in early trade on Wednesday on a weak spot market, pared some of their losses on higher demand from exporters, analysts said.

MUMBAI: Jeera futures, down in early trade on Wednesday on a weak spot market, pared some of their losses on higher demand from exporters, analysts said.

There was some fresh demand from exporters as the crop is not sufficiently available in other major producing countries, said an analyst with Angel Commodities Broking.

Arrivals from Syria and Turkey, two of the worlds largest producers, are expected only during May-June.

Arrivals in the physical market were about 11,000 tonnes, while demand was about 13,000 tonnes, said Praveen Patel, a Unjha-based trader. Spot jeera fell 0.6% to Rs 9,850 per 100 kg in Unjha.
