NEW DELHI: Jeera prices rose 0.57 per cent to Rs 13,770 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by a firm export demand.

However, expectations of higher output this season capped the gains.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April gained Rs 77.50, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 13,770 per quintal with an open interest of 1,720 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in the May contract traded higher by Rs 62.50, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 13,865 per quintal in 13,971 lots.

Analysts said speculative positions created by participants following firm export demand mainly influenced jeera prices at futures trade.
