Jeera futures fall 1.78 pc on increased supply

NEW DELHI: Jeera prices fell by 1.78 per cent to Rs 12,842.50 per quintal in futures trading today on increased supplies on rising arrivals of new crop in the physical market against subdued demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June fell by Rs 232.50, or 1.78 per cent to Rs 12,842.50 per quintal with an open interest of 12,198 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in May traded lower by Rs 227.50, or 1.77 per cent to Rs 12,660 per quintal in 7,371 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in jeera futures to increased supplies from new season crop in the physical market against subdued demand mainly kept pressure on jeera prices at futures market.
