Gur prices climb on paucity of stocks, improve demand

The wholesale gur prices hardened by Rs.150 per quintal in the national capital today following paucity of stocks amid restricted supplies.

NEW DELHI: The wholesale gur prices hardened by Rs.150 per quintal in the national capital today following paucity of stocks amid restricted supplies.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also ended lower in thin trade.

Marketmen said poor supply from manufacturing areas due o adversed weather conditions created tight stocks position and pushed up gur prices.

In Delhi, gur pedi prices shot up from Rs.3150-3250 to end at Rs.3300-3400, showing a net rise of Rs.150 per quintal. Gur chakku, dhayya and shakkar prices rose by Rs.100 each to Rs.3200-3300, Rs.3400-3500 and Rs.3500-3600 per quintal respectively.

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Khurpa prices ended up at Rs.2700-2750 instead of Rs.2550-2750 per quintal. Gur Raskat prices gained from s.2650-2700 to Rs.2700-2750 per quintal on brisk demand from alcohol making industries.

In Muradnagar, gur pedi and dhayya rose to Rs.3000-3075 and Rs.3100-3125 from Rs.2900-3000 and Rs.3000-3050 per quintal respectively.
