Gur futures up on fresh buying

Gur prices improved by Rs 15.50 to Rs 1,267 per 40 kg in future trading today on renewed buying by traders in line with rising spot markets cues.



NEW DELHI: Gur prices improved by Rs 15.50 to Rs 1,267 per 40 kg in future trading today on renewed buying by traders in line with rising spot markets cues.

Marketmen said increased buying by traders on pick up in demand in physical markets against restricted arrivals due to bad weather conditions, mainly pushed up prices.

However, reports of better sugar-cane production and rising inventories capped the losses, they said.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, gur prices for September contract spurted by Rs 5.50, or 1.24 per cent to Rs 1,267 per 40 kg, with open interest of 140 lots.

Most active near March contract gained Rs 2, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 1,103.50 per 40 kg, with an open interest of 10,040 lots.
