Gold, silver drop on global cues
Both gold and silver dropped at the domestic bullion market here on profit-booking from stockists and investors following bearish global cues.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) slipped by Rs 150 per 10 grams to end at Rs 23,150 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 23,300.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) slid by Rs 155 per 10 grams to close at Rs 23,260 from Rs 23,415 previously.
Silver ready (.999 fineness) dipped by Rs 590 per kg to finish at Rs 58,445 compared to Rs 59,035 last weekend.
In Europe, Gold prices retreated from the all time high levels after investors' sell-off following President Barack Obama's last minute announcement of the deals to raise the US borrowing limit.
Spot gold was bid at USD 1,615.59 an ounce in early trade and silver was bid at USD 39.45 an ounce.
