TOKYO: Gold rose on mounting investor uncertainties sparked by the British police's claim they'd foiled a plot to blow up airliners, and the failure of diplomatic efforts to end the war in Lebanon.
Gold rose 5.80 dollar, or 0.9 percent, to 642.05 dollar an ounce. Gold futures for December delivery rose 3.7 dollar, or 0.6 percent, to 649.70 dollar an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
