LONDON: Gold today, trading near the lowest in more than five years on expectations that the Federal Reserve will soon raise interest rates, gained for the first time in three days as Turkey said it shot down a Russian fighter jet close to the Syrian border.

Gold added 0.5 per cent to USD 1,074.09 an ounce. Prices fell to USD 1,064.55 on November 18, the lowest since February 2010. Silver also rose 0.18 per cent to trade at USD 14.18 an ounce.
