Gold production up two-fold

Gold production in the first two months (April-May) of this fiscal grew more than two-fold at 2.25 tonnes and also overshot the set target of 1.5 tonnes for these two months.

NEW DELHI: Gold production in the first two months (April-May) of this fiscal grew more than two-fold at 2.25 tonnes and also overshot the set target of 1.5 tonnes for these two months.
The gold production in the corresponding period previous fiscal was 1.09 tonnes, an official release said.
Out of the total production in April and May, Hutti Gold Mine Ltd (HGML), the only unit processing gold from ore stage, produced 0.345152 tonnes, followed by Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) which produced 0.062 tonnes and Hindalco with 1.851.
HCL and Hindalco process gold as a by-product, while processing copper.
The production for May stood at 0.907232 tonnes, up from the set target of 0.600919 tonnes. HGML produced 0.168232 tonnes in the month, HCL produced 0.028 tonnes and Hindalco produced 0.711 tonnes.
