Gold & metals shine less
Gold contracts on MCX, including gold mini, shed Rs 7-38 per 10 gm, with the June contract down at Rs 8,942 per 10 gm.
In the base metals segment, MCX copper contracts turnover was Rs 730.03 crore. Copper contracts ended lower between Rs 1.70 and 3.4 per kg with the June contract down 1.06% at Rs 318.30 per kg.
Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 487.80 crore with volume. Zinc for May delivery was down by 1.33% at Rs 159.45 per kg.
On Wednesday, in the first session up to 5 pm turnover in MCX was Rs 2,686.39 crore, down 27.4% from that in the corresponding period of the previous day.
On NCDEX, sugar M contract today hit a lower circuit because of reports of a good Brazil crop that created a bearish sentiments. Sugar May contract closed down at Rs 1,208 per quintal as against the previous close at Rs 1,251.
Most of the agri commodities were down today with delivery pressure. NCDEX registered a turnover of Rs 2,638 crore (one-way) with active trades high in among others guarseeds, pepper, jeera, soya oil, chana and sugar.
Pepper was down by 2.8% at Rs 14,768 per quintal. It registered a turnover of Rs 509 crore. Red chilli was marginally up at Rs 4,919 per quintal.
