Ginger firms up on good demand, tight supply

Prices of ginger bleached and unbleached firmed up at the spices market here today on increased stockists demand amidst restricted arrivals.

MUMBAI: Prices of ginger bleached and unbleached firmed up at the spices market here today on increased stockists demand amidst restricted arrivals from producing regions.

While, rest all other spices maintained a stable trend in the absence of necessary buying support.

Ginger bleached and ginger unbleached both rose by Rs 5 per kilo to Rs 85 and Rs 100 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 80 and Rs 95, respectively.

The following are today's closing rates in rupees with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 400/430 (400/430), ginger bleached (per kg) 85 (80), ginger unbleached (per kg) 100 (95), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 3,800 (3,800), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 3,700 (3,700), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 6,600 (6,600) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 4,750 (4,750).
