Moong dal increased by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 10,000 from Rs 9,800. Gram dal rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 3,950 from Rs 3,850.

Foodgrain prices rise in wholesale market
CHENNAI: Prices of urad dal, moong dal, gram dal, sugar and sooji increased while those of other commodities ruled steady in the wholesale foodgrains market here today.

Urad dal price rose steeply by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 7,500 from its closing rate of Rs 7,200.

Moong dal increased by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 10,000 from Rs 9,800. Gram dal rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 3,950 from Rs 3,850.

Sugar rose by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 3,250 from its previous rate of Rs 3,100.

Sooji (90 kg) traded high by Rs 100 to Rs 2,900 from its Saturday's closing rate of Rs 2,800.

Tur dal, wheat and maida prices ruled steady. Following are the wholesale rates of various agri-commodities (in Rs per quintal, except where stated otherwise): Thoor Dal Rs 8,100, Urad Dal Rs 7,500 Moong Dal Rs 10,000, Gram Dal Rs 3,950, Sugar Rs 3,250, Wheat Rs 2,700, Maida (90 kg) Rs 2,500 and Sooji (90 kg) Rs 2,900.
