Firm trend in Chennai foodgrains market

Prices of select commodities went up while that of sugar edged down during the week ended on Saturday on the wholesale market in Chennai.

CHENNAI: Prices of select commodities went up while that of sugar edged down during the week ended on Saturday on the wholesale market here.

Thoor dal, urad dal, moong dal, and gram dal rose by Rs 50, Rs 150, Rs 100, and Rs 50 each per quintal to Rs 4,550, Rs 4,200, Rs 3,900 and Rs 2950 against the previous week rate of Rs 4,500, Rs 4,050, Rs 3,800 and Rs 2,900 respectively.

Sooji (90 kg) rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1,600 against the previous week rate Rs 1,550.

Sugar slipped by Rs 10 to Rs 1,570 against previous week rate of Rs 1,580.

Wheat at Rs 1,550 per quintal and maida (90 kg) at Rs 1450 remained unaltered over their previous week's close.
