Coriander futures rise on pick-up in demand, tight supply

Tight supplies following less arrivals from producing belts also supported the uptrend in coriander.

NEW DELHI: Coriander prices rose by Rs 96 to Rs 6,607 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by a pick-up in demand in the spot market.

Tight supplies following less arrivals from producing belts also supported the uptrend in coriander.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, coriander for delivery in May rose by Rs 96, or 1.47 per cent, to Rs 6,607 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,800 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April moved up by Rs 90, or 1.41 per cent, to Rs 6,490 per quintal in 30,910 lots.

Marketmen said fresh positions created by speculators, driven by a pick-up in demand in the spot market amid lower arrivals, mainly led rise in coriander prices at futures trade.
