Coriander futures remain high on spot demand

Coriander prices rose by Rs 184 to Rs 7,097 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven rising spot market demand.

NEW DELHI: Coriander prices rose by Rs 184 to Rs 7,097 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven rising spot market demand.

The sentiment further improved as a result of limited stock position on account of fall in supplies from major growing areas.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, coriander for April rose by Rs 184, or 2.66 per cent, to Rs 7,097 per quintal, with an open interest of 32,520 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January rose by Rs 109, or 1.76 per cent, to Rs 6,300 per quintal, in a business turnover of 620 lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators on pick-up in spot market demand against fall in supplies from growing areas, mainly pushed up coriander prices at futures trade.
