Copra up on sustained buying; fall in supply

Copra prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on emergence of sustained buying by retailers and stockists.

NEW DELHI: Copra prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on emergence of sustained buying by retailers and stockists.

Fall in supplies from producing southern region also supported the rise in prices.

Copra prices increased by Rs 100 to Rs 5,500-5,600 per quintal.

Marketmen said increased demand from retailers and stockists amid restricted arrivals from producing region mainly pushed up copra prices in the wholesale dry fruit market.

Following are today's quotations Rs per 40 kg: Almond (California) new Rs 10,200, Almond (gurbandi) Rs 4,950 almond (girdhi) Rs 2,950-3,050 and Abjosh Afghani Rs 6,000-14,000.

Almond kernel in per kg (California) Rs 350-355, almond kernel (gurbandi) (kg) Rs 300-360.
