Copper turns weak on global cues, subdued demand

Copper turned weak and prices fell by one rupee per kg on the non-ferrous metal market in the national capital largely in line with subdued trend in base metals overseas amid subdued demand from consuming industries.

NEW DELHI: Copper turned weak and prices fell by one rupee per kg on the non-ferrous metal market in the national capital on Saturday largely in line with subdued trend in base metals overseas amid subdued demand from consuming industries.

Elsewhere, other metals, including zinc and lead, moved in a tight range in the absence of worthwhile activity and settled around previous levels.

Trading sentiments in copper turned bearish as metal for three-month delivery lost 0.3 per cent to 5,945 dollar a metric tonne at the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were down by Re one each at Rs 312, Rs 333 and Rs 292 per kg.
