Copper remains weak on global cues

Copper remained weak and prices fell further by Rs 2 per kg in the local non-ferrous metals market today on subdued demand from consuming industries.

NEW DELHI: Copper remained weak and prices fell further by Rs 2 per kg in the local non-ferrous metals market today on subdued demand from consuming industries amid a weak global trend.

Sentiment in copper remained bearish after copper fell in overseas markets amid further signs of a slowdown in Europe.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months retreated 0.5 per cent to $7,606 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap remained under selling pressure and lost Rs 2 at Rs 388 per kg.

The following are metal rates per kg: Zinc ingot 108-112, nickel plate (4x4) 1,027-1,030, gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 388, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 133, lead imported 131, aluminium ingots 128, sheet cutting 129, aluminium wire scrap 133 and aluminium utensils scrap 128.
