Copper futures rise on spot demand

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April rose by Re 1, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 451.85 per kg.

NEW DELHI: Copper prices rose by 0.22 per cent to Rs 451.85 per kg in futures trade on Monday as speculators created fresh positions driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.


At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April rose by Re 1, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 451.85 per kg in business turnover of 941 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February traded higher by 90 paise, or 0.20 per cent to Rs 446.75 per kg in 7611 lots.

Market analysts said speculators created fresh positions driven by pick up in spot market demand, mainly helped copper to trade higher.
