Commodity prices decline in the foodgrain market

The prices of urad dal, sugar, maida and sooji declined, while those of other commodities ruled steady in the wholesale foodgrains market here today.

CHENNAI: The prices of urad dal, sugar, maida and sooji declined, while those of other commodities ruled steady in the wholesale foodgrains market here today.

Urad dal went down by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 5,500 from its previous rate of Rs 5,700.

Maida (90 kg) and Sooji (90 kg) declined by Rs 200 and Rs 100 to Rs 2,000 and Rs 2,200, respectively.

Sugar moved down to Rs 3,700 from Rs 3,750. The Following are the wholesale rates of various agri- commodities today (in rupees per quintal, except where stated otherwise): Thoor dal Rs 7,200, urad dal Rs 5,500, moong dal Rs 7,000,gram dal Rs 5,700, sugar Rs 3,700, wheat Rs 2,200, maida (90 kg) Rs 2,000, sooji (90 kg) Rs 2,200.
