Prices of dals, sugar and wheat firmed up in the wholesale market here this week. The price of thoor dal opened at Rs 7,500 a quintal.

CHENNAI: Prices of dals, sugar and wheat firmed up in the wholesale market here this week.


The price of thoor dal opened at Rs 7,500 a quintal, an increase of Rs 200 from its closing rate of Rs 7,300.

Urad dal and moong dal opened the week at its closing rates of Rs 5700 and Rs 7600 respectively and moved up on Friday by Rs 100 per quintal each to close at Rs 5800 and Rs 7700 respectively.

Gram dal opened the week at Rs 4300 at its closing rate and increased on Friday by Rs 50 per quintal to close at Rs 4350.

Sugar opened the week at Rs 3180, an increase of Rs 30 per quintal from its closing rate of Rs 3150 to increase again on Friday by Rs 20 to close at Rs 3200.

Opening at the same rate of Rs 2200, the prices of wheat increased on Friday by Rs.100 per quintal to finish at Rs.2300.

The prices of Maida (90 kg) and Sooji (90 kg) remained steady throughout the week.
