Chilli, turmeric weaken on subdued demand

NEW DELHI: Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely influenced by subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid sufficient stocks.

Red chilli and turmeric prices declined by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 6,500-12,000 and Rs 6,500-11,500 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid sufficient stocks position mainly attributed fall in chilli and turmeric prices at the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Ajwain 11,000-17,500, black pepper (per kg) 450-570, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,030 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,020-1,170.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 650-750, cardamom (colour robin) 600-700, cardamom bold 650-700, cardamom extra (bold) 800-900 and cloves (kg) 850-950.
