Chilli, turmeric recover on fresh buying

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 each to settled at Rs 6,400-11,900 and Rs 6,200-11,200 per quintal, respectively.

NEW DELHI: In thin trading, prices of red chilli and turmeric recovered by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely influenced by fresh buying support from local parties as well as overseas enquiries.

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 each to settled at Rs 6,400-11,900 and Rs 6,200-11,200 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying support from retailers and exporters against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Ajwain 11,000-17,500, black pepper (per kg) 450-570, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,050 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,050-1,200.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 650-750, cardamom (colour robin) 600-700, cardamom bold 650-700, cardamom extra (bold) 800-900 and cloves (kg) 850-950.
