Chilli, turmeric prices rise on fall in supply

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 each to settle at Rs 6,700-12,000 and Rs 7,700-13,600 per quintal, respectively.

NEW DELHI: Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital on Friday on fresh buying by retailers and stockists amid low stocks.


Fall in supplies from producing belts also supported the upside in prices.

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 each to settle at Rs 6,700-12,000 and Rs 7,700-13,600 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are on Friday's quotations per quintal: Ajwain 10,500-17,000, black pepper (per kg) 350-470, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 950-1,000 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,000-1,100.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 690-810, cardamom (colour robin) 670-800, cardamom bold 700-750, cardamom extra (bold) 860-1,000 and cloves (kg) 625-750.
