Chilli, turmeric prices decline on subdued demand

Marketmen said subdued demand from stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

NEW DELHI: Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

Weakening trend in futures market also put pressure on the select spice prices.

Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,500-11,800 and Rs 6,900-11,900 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are today's quotations: Ajwain 10,000-15,000, black pepper (per kg) 360-480, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 780-900 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 950-1,050.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 700-830, cardamom (colour robin) 680-820, cardamom bold 700-780, cardamom extra (bold) 870-1,010 and cloves (kg) 600-750.
