Chilli prices down after firm opening at NCDEX

August delivery for Chilli traded 0.40 pc down at Rs 5,535 per kg after rising to Rs 5,659 per kg in opening trade on NCDEX counter.

NEW DELHI: Chilli prices started trading in a positive note, but later moved down in the futures market today on emergence of selling at higher levels.

At 1245 hrs, August delivery for Chilli traded 0.40 per cent down at Rs 5,535 per kg after rising to Rs 5,659 per kg in opening trade on NCDEX counter. It clocked business volume of 880 tonnes.

Prices of far-month October contract were down 1.1 per cent to Rs 6,040 per quintal after rising to Rs 6,051 per quintal with a business volume of 335 tonnes.

Traders said futures prices were mostly down on profit-booking by speculators on selling at prevailing attractive higher prices.

Meanwhile, chili was trading higher at Rs 5,751 per quintal in the spot market at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Asia's biggest chilli market.
