Chilli, jeera prices rise as demand picks up
Red chilli and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of a pick-up in domestic as well as export demand.
Besides, a firming trend in futures market also supported the uptrend in select spice prices.
Red chilli prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 5,900-11,100 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also rose by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 12,900-13,000 and Rs 16,600-17,100 per quintal, respectively on fresh overseas enquiries and less supplies in the domestic market.
Traders said buying support from retailers and exporters against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up chilli and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
