Chilli, jeera decline on subdued demand
In thin trading, prices of red chilli and jeera fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today due to weak domestic as well as export demand.
Red chilli prices fell by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 5,800-10,000 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 14,300-14,500 and Rs 17,000-17,400 per quintal.
Traders said subdued export and domestic demand against adequate stocks mainly pulled down select spices prices in the wholesale kirana market here.
The following are today's quotations: Ajwain 10,000-15,000, black pepper (per kg) 430-560, betelnut (kg) 160-195, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 800-900, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 900-1,000.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 700-800, cardamom (colour robin) 700-850, cardamom bold 700-750, cardamom extra (bold) 880-1,000 and cloves (kg) 600-700.
