Chilli futures up on spot demand

Chilli futures prices today moved up by Rs 32 to Rs 5,430 per quintal, as speculators created fresh positions on pick-up in demand in the spot market.

NEW DELHI: Chilli futures prices today moved up by Rs 32 to Rs 5,430 per quintal, as speculators created fresh positions on pick-up in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli for delivery in April rose by Rs 32, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 5,430 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,795 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 24, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 5,822 per quintal, with a business turnover of 3,415 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of a rise in demand in the spot market mainly helped chilli prices to trade higher at futures market.
