Chilli futures down 1.53 pc on higher output hopes

Chilli prices fell by 1.53 per cent to Rs 5,544 per quintal as speculators trimmed positions amid expectations of higher output.

NEW DELHI: Chilli prices fell by 1.53 per cent to Rs 5,544 per quintal as speculators trimmed positions amid expectations of higher output.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli for delivery in October moved down by Rs 86, or 1.53 per cent, to Rs 5,544 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,065 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in September traded lower by Rs 60, or 1.19 per cent, to Rs 4,970 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,205 lots.

Marketmen said off-loading of positions by speculators following higher output expectations, mainly weighed on the spice prices at futures trade here.
